Highway Construction

Ramp closures scheduled to begin June 12 at Polaris Parkway and I-71; New Gemini Place bridge to open

May 31, 2006 - Before you travel to OCSEA headquarters for a meeting, please be aware that there is construction on Interstate 71 (I-71) that may impact your travel time and route.

Every ramp at the Polaris Parkway/I-71 interchange will close for reconstruction at some point during the summer. During this time, the new Gemini Place Bridge over I-71 will be open to traffic.

Before any ramp closes, a corresponding ramp at the Gemini Place interchange will open, so you will always have access to/from I-71. Check the schedule below.

Staff and regular visitors may find the new ramps a better alternative for the commute once the project is completed this fall.

Refer to the ramp illustration as you read the ramp closure and opening schedule below.

I-71 Ramp Construction Illustration

The ramp from Polaris Parkway to I-71 northbound (ramp #4) will be the first of three ramps to close this summer. Ramp #4 will close for approximately two months beginning in mid-June. When this ramp closes, the new ramp from Gemini Place to I-71 northbound (ramp #8) will open.

During this time, motorists need to use the new Gemini Place ramp to access I-71 northbound. From the west side of I-71, the ramp can be accessed by using Gemini Place which runs behind Polaris Fashion Place. From the east side of I-71, the ramp can be accessed by using Orion Place.

Ramp #1 will close in early July for two weeks. At that time, Ramps #3 and #5 will open.

Ramp #2 will close in mid-July for three weeks. At that time, Ramp #6 will open.
