Our Members

The Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA) represents about 37,000 state and local employees who work in a variety of government agencies and institutions.

Our members are caring and hard-working Ohio citizens who deliver quality pubic services and pay taxes.

High concentrations of state employee OCSEA members live and work near Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, and Cincinnati.

Many work for agencies including, but not limited to:

• Natural Resources
• Mental Health and Mental Retardation
• Public Safety
• Transportation
• Rehabilitation and Corrections
• Rehabilitation Services Commission
• Taxation
• Workers Compensation
• Youth Services

The members of OCSEA/AFSCME Local 11 include public workers employed by various State of Ohio agencies and departments and a few county and municipal agencies. Most county and municipal employees in Ohio, however, are represented by our sister unions, AFSCME Council 8 and OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4.

In addition to all of the non-negotiated and negotiated benefits, there is one other benefit that our members alone elect to receive—that is the benefit of a voice in the workplace.

When public employees—and others with whom they work—are members of OCSEA, they create a strong voice in the workplace. Additionally, their voice is strengthened even more through OCSEA’s affiliation with the AFL-CIO and AFSCME.

Together, OCSEA members, and the public employee labor movement as a whole, can impact the quality of public employees' work life and the quality of the benefits they take home to their families.
