Executive Officers OCSEA Statewide Officers include President Eddie L. Parks, Vice President Christopher Mabe, and Secretary-Treasurer Kathleen Stewart. These three officers form OCSEA's Executive Committee, and together with the union's Executive Director Andy Douglas, lead the day-to-day functions of the organization.
PRESIDENT OCSEA Convention delegates on Aug. 24, 2007, elected Parks to serve as the union's new statewide president. Before his 2003 - 2007 term as vice president, Parks served as a long-time member of OCSEA’s Board of Directors and chaired the group’s education, professional and internal dispute committees. He now chairs the Union Education Trust and the Union Benefits Trust. Parks became a steward in 1987 and has served as chief steward, chapter president, and a member of his district executive board. Parks, who resides in Westerville, is an Energy Specialist for the Public Utility Commission of Ohio. He earned his master’s degree from The Ohio State University. VICE PRESIDENT Long-time union activist Christopher Mabe, a corrections sergeant at the Lorain Correctional Institution, now serves the union as executive vice president. A 17-year employee in Ohio’s prison system, Mabe has been a long-time opponent of private prisons and more recently has been active in opposing overcrowding and understaffing in the state’s prisons system. This is his first statewide office for the union. Mabe also chairs the Veterans Affairs Committee of the OCSEA Board of Directors. At the time of his election, Mabe was one of the union’s district presidents and president of the group’s chapter at the Lorain prison. SECRETARY TREASURER Stewart was re-elected to her statewide executive office as OCSEA's secretary-treasurer. An Accountant Examiner for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, Stewart has served on the union's Board of Directors since 1987 and has chaired the group's Women's Action, Convention and Finance Committees. With only two exceptions, Kathy has served on every bargaining teams since OCSEA members obtained collective bargaining rights in 1986. She is secretary-treasurer of the Central Ohio Union Label and Service Trades Council, vice president of the State Union Label Council and sits on the AFSCME Women’s Committee. See Related
