Les
Best Scholarship
OCSEA/AFSCME Local 11 is no longer accepting applications for the 2008 - 2009 Les Best Scholarship Fund. The program was designed to help our members and their families with education costs. The application deadline was April 30, 2008. Award recipients will be announced in the Summer issue of the Public Employee Quarterly magazine. OCSEA´s scholarship fund will provide up to 12 financial awards for the 2008 - 2009 academic year to eligible union members, spouses and their dependent children.
Les Best Scholarship Members’ College applicants are also eligible for a book scholarship, established by OCSEA District 1 in the name of Pat Callanan-Castro who was an avid reader and a lifelong learner.
Completed application packets must include: transcripts, references, and an essay. The essay is not required for the Dependents´ Vocational Scholarship, however. The award recipients are chosen by the Les Best Scholarship Selection Committee. The committee is an independent group of distinguished educators and labor union representatives. Their decisions are final. If you have questions about the Les Best scholarship, please contact OCSEA's Scholarship Hotline at 614-865-4740 or toll free 800-266-5615, ext. 4740. See Related |
