Building Union Power 10: March 26 - 27, 2010The 10th OCSEA Building Union Power event will take place at the Hilton Columbus at Easton March 26 - 27, 2010.

Governor Strickland to address conference-goers;
Lt. Gov.-hopeful to speak at Solidarity Dinner
Special guests at this year’s BUP10 Conference will include Gov. Ted Strickland as well as recently-announced Lt. Governor candidate and Strickland running-mate Yvette McGee Brown, who will be the featured speaker at the Solidarity Dinner on Saturday evening.

Also on tap to speak is AFSCME International President Gerald McEntee who will address OCSEA leaders as the keynote speaker on Saturday. McEntee, an OCSEA favorite known for pumping union activists, will address the hundreds of union activists expected to attend the annual event about everything from jobs and health care to upcoming elections and workplace mobilization.

Workshops
Conference-goers are encouraged to attend the informational workshops being held at this year's conference. The following workshops will be offered twice on Saturday:

    through Internal Organizing
  • Bam! Pow! Kaboom!
    Unleashing Labor’s Political Power
  • The Rise of Public Sector Unions in America
  • An Introduction to OCSEA History
  • What’s Happening at OPERS? An overview of the possible changes to the benefit plan.

PEOPLE Throwback
On Friday night, be sure to wear your "throwback" PEOPLE gear! Wear your old OCSEA, labor and elections stuff, such as T-shirts, buttons and more for the conference's "PEOPLE Throwback" booth as part of the labor history event on Friday night. If you have any items OCSEA can use for display at the booth, please contact Sharon Reese at sreese@ocsea.org or by calling (614) 865-2646. Download the "PEOPLE Throwback" flier (PDF).
