Leadership
Your union web source on convention business
Eddie Parks, Eddie L. Parks Parks has been a state employee since 1983 for the Public Utilities Commission and is an Energy Specialist. Parks succeeded Ronald C. Alexander, and will serve through 2011 as the new union president. A Columbus native, Parks graduated from Central High School and was the first minority to make the All-City and All-District Football Team as quarterback. Eddie attended The Ohio State University and earned a master’s degree. Parks was the Deputy Executive Director of the Columbus Metropolitan Area Community Action Organization where he developed the first two-year education program in collaboration with the College of Education at The Ohio State University that would help get mothers off public assistance. Within OCSEA, Parks became a steward in 1987 and has served as chief steward, chapter president, and a member of his district executive board. He also held the district vice president slot and served as a member of the OCSEA Board of Directors. He was elected Vice President of OCSEA in 2003. Parks has chaired both the Judicial and Internal Affairs and Professional Advisory Committees, and currently chairs the Education Committee. Parks feels that his success should be measured not so much by the position that he has reached in OCSEA, but by the obstacles he has overcome while trying to reach his goal. Leadership Speakers
