Take Charge! Live Well! is an exciting new health and wellness program brought to you by the state's labor management Joint Health Care Committee (JHCC).

Bargaining, joint efforts paying off

OCSEA made the choice as a partner on the Joint Health Care Committee (JHCC) to work on the Take Charge! Live Well! program. The union recognizes the impact medical and wellness programs can have at the bargaining table.

Labor and management knows that we're not isolated from rising health care costs. Our population is aging, and health costs continue to increase — for the organization and each of us.

“This country is in the midst of a health care costs crisis, and the next round of contract negotiations will most likely reflect that. Prevention and management of chronic diseases has been proven to save money and benefit consumers,”said OCSEA President Eddie Parks.

“This program is not only good for the mind, body and soul but it will hopefully pay off with better results at the bargaining table."

While bargaining and the efforts of the Joint Health Care Committee have managed to keep health care premiums lower than most other employers, the future could be another story.

“OCSEA members have always been willing to do their part to keep health care costs down, and this is the next logical step,” Parks said.
