Paramount network experiences loss of some specialists
May 21, 2003 -OCSEA
was notified last week that Northwest Ohio Specialists (NWOS) were leaving
the Paramount network. We were initially concerned that the network would
now lack certain specialists as a result of the
departing group.
It looks as if there will be no holes in network coverage.
The Paramount network has sufficient depth to cover the loss of NWOS.
The one area of concern was pediatric pulmonology. There is a contract
in place with a local pediatric pulmonologist who is not part of NWOS.
As a side note, the NWOS pediatric pulmonologists have
a contract with Toledo Hospital which requires them to treat ALL inpatient
and emergency cases, regardless of insurance carrier, that come to Toledo
Hospital and Toledo Children's Hospital.
It is also worth noting that several NWOS groups have
indicated they will sign individual contracts with Paramount.
