OCSEA leaders and staff say current Information Technology trends, customer needs, and offshoring have created new pressures for IT state employees. It's critical for members to unite, examine the IT field and address these factors to assure that IT employees are prepared for impending changes.

A specialized union board committee and member forum, has been created to do just that. But leaders say a joint process can maximize efforts to prevent job loss and maximize job opportunities.

OCSEA has proposed to establish a joint committee of 8-10 persons to jointly design and figure out what joint committees should be established and what are programmatic timelines. The union advocates using Workforce Development funds to support a jointly appointed project manager, bench marking and other expertise the committee will need to make recommendations.

Stay tuned into the union's activities on this important issue. Sign up for IT email, offer feedback, join discussion forums, and more.
