Learn more about a number of other valuable union-negotiated benefits and other programs, including:
- Employee Assistance Program - The Ohio Employee Assistance Program is a screening, information, referral and support service for state employees and their family members. The Ohio EAP is supported by both labor and management. It has been a benefit provided to all state employees and their families since 1984.
- Health Care - The Joint Health Care Committee (JHCC) is a labor management committee responsible for monitoring all health care benefits—except vision, dental and life. The new health and wellness program, Take Charge! Live Well!, is made possible through the union-negotiated health care benefits package for OCSEA members and their families.
- Union Education Trust - OCSEA leaders have designed a new union-led education trust, under Article 37. As part of the resolution to several 2006 - 2009 bargaining issues, management agreed to give up its share of control over the Article 37 education program rather than eliminate it entirely. Editor's Note: For questions about existing Computer Purchase Program (CPP) loans, submit your balance request for information to the Department of Administrative Services.
- Union Benefits Trust - The Trust, established by OCSEA through collective bargaining, is the product of several years of work by the Unions serving the State employees. The unions believed they could efficiently and effectively administer benefits including today's Legal, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Life, and Working Solutions benefit programs.
While the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) is a statutory right to all public employees, OCSEA members have a strong say in how their pension benefit is managed.
- OPERS - Public employees who are OCSEA members elect leadership to legislative arm of OPERS. This means that every member, through their elected representative, has a say in how their pension dollars are managed and invested. Currently, OCSEA President Eddie L. Parks is the representative for state employees on the OPERS board.
