Union-negotiated pay raises kick in July 1; State's direct deposit deadline looms
June 15, 2006 - Don't forget that the first pay hike (3 percent) of the new OCSEA and State of Ohio contract kicks in during the pay period that includes July 1, 2006. On a related note, remember that also starting on July 1 is the mandatory direct deposit of paychecks. Want to avoid the PowerPay system? Members give nod to new state employee contract
Feb. 28, 2006 - OCSEA announced today union members voted by a two-to-one margin to accept a new three-year contract containing pay raise provisions that mark a sharp contrast to one reluctantly agreed to in 2003. FULL STORY

- Union members were pleased that the new contract holds the line on the cost of many health care components and even offers several improvements. Regional meetings to review contract run through Feb. 21
Feb. 16, 2006 (updated Feb. 21) - The final Regional Bargaining meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 21, 6 - 8 p.m., in Cambridge. Members of the bargaining team, the executive committee, and the executive director will be at the tenth regional meeting tonight to provide information and answer questions about the tentative agreement and the fact finder's report. Fact finder recommends wage increases
Feb. 10, 2006
- The fact finder, Dr. Harry Graham, recommended wage increases of 3.0 percent, 3.5 percent, and 3.5 percent to occur in the pay period of July 1 of 2006, 2007, and 2008 respectively. FULL STORY

Release time deadline for poll workers: Feb. 10
Feb. 8, 2006
- The Office of Collective Bargaining issued an email to OCSEA today about granting approval for the release time of one member per location to staff the union ballot boxes and requiring the union to give notice regarding poll workers by Friday, Feb. 10. FULL STORY

Feb. 7, 2006 - One of the best developments in negotiations, pending contract ratification, will result in the union assuming control of the Workforce Development program. As part of the resolution to several bargaining issues, management tentatively agreed to give up its share of control over WD and to allow OCSEA to restructure the program.
