FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions on the 2006 - 2008 Contract

Q. What is the effective date of the contract?
A. The current contract became effective March 1, 2006.

Q. Where do I get a copy of the contract?
A. OCSEA members received a copy of the tentative agreement in a special issue of the union magazine, Public Employee Quarterly. The Fact Finder's Report was made available to leaders and members at the Feb. 16 - 21 regional bargaining meetings. Both documents, which constitute the ratified contract agreement, are available in the website's Bargaining Toolbox.

Q. Does the contract grant wage increases during the life of the agreement?
A. Yes. The fact finder, Dr. Harry Graham, recommended wage increases of 3.0 percent, 3.5 percent, and 3.5 percent to occur in the pay period of July 1 of 2006, 2007, and 2008 respectively.

Q. When do the new rates for travel reimbursement go into effect?
A. The increase for hotel reimbursements and the increased gas mileage reimbursement rate both went into effect with the start of the new contract on March 1, 2006. The hotel rate for state overnight travel increased to $80 per night. The mileage rate for automobile travel increased to $.40 per mile or the IRS rate, whichever is less. The mileage rate for motorcycle travel increased to $.13 per mile.
