July 25, 2006 - In a celebration of quality, state employees from all over Ohio converged on the OCSEA Union Hall Thursday for the Pathways to Excellence event. The quality conference, which occurs several times a year, was sponsored by the Ohio Quality Network (OQN), a labor-management quality advocacy group. This is the second time OCSEA has hosted the event.

Speakers included partners in Quality, OCSEA Executive Director Andy Douglas and DAS Director Carol Drake.

The event’s keynote speaker was Mark Anthony Garrett, a motivational speaker who encouraged attendees to move beyond their limitations and to take it to the next level of success.

Conference goers had the opportunity to attend three workshops:

  • Organization Assessment Tools - led by employees in Taxation and ODOT and spotlighted two different approaches to conducting employee surveys and how they led to productivity.
  • ODOT District 1 Strategic Planning - detailed the history of their quality journey and how their strategic planning was influenced by quality.
  • Q2 - unveiled the DAS quality initiative aimed at taking quality and improvement to the next level.

Pathways to  Excellence was developed to highlight the quality work happening everyday in state government. Pathways provides a way to share accomplishments, showcase best practices and learn new tools and techniques.
