OCSEA President Eddie Parks welcomed these leaders and talked about his support of this initiative, stressing that the union would be at the table with management.

Much good work was accomplished. It was evident that many shared a feeling of excitement about the opportunity to get involved in workplace change.

The groups discussed the Employee and Stakeholder Suggestion Program, but spent most of the time talking about:

  • the role of the union in this new initiative
  • what the union's involvement means to bargaining unit employees ( “what's in it for us”)
  • how would OCSEA appoint members to the union side of the Agency Review Teams.

The participants were divided into groups that represented like-agencies or institutions.

The staff representatives responsible for representing those agencies also were present at the table to support their members.
