Agency Review Teams request member input

Jan. 29, 2008 - Got a good idea to improve state government and the services public employees deliver?

OCSEA members are encouraged to complete the online feedback form on the website of the Efficiency Review and Continuous Improvement Initiative. Your suggestions will be evaluated by the appropriate Agency Review Team (ART).

This newly formed quality initiative is valuable to OCSEA members because it includes union input on all levels and — considering recent announcements by the Strickland administration of an imminent budget shortfall — it may help save the state money, too.

Additionally, this initiative, which is results-oriented with an eye toward specific budgetary savings, supports Gov. Ted Strickland's accountable government plan.

It's foundation is a web-based suggestion process, called the Employee and Stakeholder Suggestion Program, which allows state employees to voice their suggestions for process improvements aimed at the work site, division or agency levels.

OCSEA members with ideas to improve their agency operations should visit the http://efficiency.ohio.gov/ website and leave a concise and clear message about their ideas. The suggestion categories on the form include: human resources, finance, information technology, communications, training, policy and other.

Suggestions can be made anonymously. Ohioans and other stakeholders may also submit suggestions.

ART committee members are charged with considering all submitted recommendations and determining their viability.

Each committee is small with eight to 10 members and is made up of equal parts labor and management. Check out the list of OCSEA ART members now to see who is representing your agency.

Presently, 17 ARTs have been appointed and have completed training. In fact, several teams are up and running and have begun reviewing online submissions.
