News News impacting public employee union members Union, State kick off annual State Campaign Sept. 18, 2006 - The Combined Charitable Campaign started this month with an annual kickoff reception at the Riffe Office Tower. OCSEA President Ron Alexander told the group, “There is never a better ‘time to care’ than the present,” incorporating this year’s theme. Co-chairs Kelvin Jones, representing OCSEA, and Merle Kearns from the Department of Aging joined Governor Taft to kick off the event.
Employees contributed $5.2 million in payroll contributions to over 11 federations involved in the Campaign. That is 19 percent above last year’s goal. “On top of serving Ohioans each and every day, state employees have pretty big and giving hearts,” said Alexander. Some agencies that exceeded their contribution goals were the Adjutant General’s Office, the Department of Aging, MR/DD and Taxation. This year’s goal is $4.6 million. The Campaign goes through October 24. See Related
