Register for CMCA by Feb. 2; Workshops, special events sure to please conferees

Dec. 14, 2006 - Don't miss out on the 21st annual Committee for Minority and Community Affairs (CMCA) Conference scheduled for Feb. 9 – 11 in Cincinnati.

The conference theme is "Back In the Day" and will feature speakers who address the challenges of higher education and organizing, an inspiring play, and more.

The workshops include:

• Higher Education in the 21st Century:  Challenges of Access & Affordability are REAL concerns we need to recognize & address – presented by Dave Garcia, Ohio University.        

• History of Organizing – presented by the OCSEA Education Department.

Early registration is open Friday, Feb. 9, 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. followed by the Hospitality Reception 9 p.m. – Midnight.

Also on Friday, members can register for an "Afternoon Tea" offered 2 - 4 p.m. in the Orchids at Palm Court at the hotel. For reservations for this special pre-conference event, please call at 1-513-421-9100. To receive the reduced conference rate ($27 per adult / $22 per child), mention that you are a CMCA conference attendee.

On Saturday morning, registration is open 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Back by popular demand, vendor booths will be open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10.

On Saturday afternoon, "Crowns  - A Gospel Musical with Hattitude" will be presented by Angel Theatre Works. This play will have you laughing, crying and humming along. Crowns is an artful amalgamation of oral history, fashion show, and musical theatre.

This weekend event will take place at the Hilton Netherland Plaza Hotel. The special hotel rate $112.32 which includes tax (single or double). Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at Noon. Valet parking is available at the reduced rate of $14 per night.
