News News impacting public employee union members Exchange "blue bird" license plate for union-designed plate for small fee July 16, 2007 - If you already purchased the Ohio State Parks license plate to support state nature programs, now you can exchange your existing "blue bird" plate for a union-designed one. The Ohio Department of Public Safety recently notified motorists, who already sport the original version, that they may trade in the new one for $6.25 plus postage. Do so at your local license agency or visit www.oplates.com.
In 2005, the union supported an effort to get the first parks plate in place. Margie Straiko, OCSEA Communications Department and Public Employees Representative Union (PERU) member, designed the new state parks logo. The image was originally designed for use by the Friends of the Park coalition, a group of Ohio stakeholders who work to ensure funding and support for state park programs and services. A portion of the proceeds, $15, from the sales of the plates directly benefits state park interpretive and educational programs. If you don't have one yet, you can order yours online or call toll free at 866-675-2837. See Related
