News News impacting public employee union members Check paystub for OAKS problems with deductions July 20, 2007 - The Department of Administrative Services has notified OCSEA and other unions of two new potential problems with employee pay. DAS says several employees have reported that they have had deductions from their pay for both union dues and fair share fees. Normally, only one or the other is deducted, but not both. The agency is still trying to determine how widespread this problem is and the reason it occurred. Therefore, all state employees should check their current and past paystubs carefully to see if this dual deduction occurred. Likewise, DAS also notified the union that Fifth-Third Bank had a problem processing employee direct deposits for the current payday. DAS and bank officials warn that a “double deposits” situation may have occurred. DAS says that employees should not experience any disruption of their normal banking but warns that employees will not be able to withdraw more than their actual pay. Despite these problems, DAS reports that each employee’s OAKS ePay information is correct and can be used to determine what bank funds will be available. OCSEA would appreciate hearing from any employee who encounters any of the above problems. Please send an email with details to oaksconcerns@ocsea.org See Related
