The contest helps refine the techniques of the drivers, making them safer drivers when they are on the road.

The Roadeo consists of two events: Truck and front loader competitions.

In each, drivers must take a written exam on common situations they could face while plowing. The drivers must also perform a thorough examination of one of the vehicles.

And, finally, participants must drive through an obstacle course designed to simulate real world challenges. Each participant receives points based on their performance.

Matt Lust (ODOT District 3 – Crawford County) was the top winner in the truck competition and Doug Andolsek (ODOT District 3 – Lorain County) was the top winner in the loader competition.

Leaders from the ODOT Assembly were on hand to award savings bonds to the top four winners in each category.
