News News impacting public employee union members Union leaders briefed on new business plan before ODOT's submission to legislature Nov. 28, 2007 - Reaffirming the new partnership between the union and the state, ODOT Director James Beasley called OCSEA leaders together yesterday to review the agency's business plan for 2008 - 2009 prior to submitting it to the state legislature. OCSEA President Eddie Parks, ODOT Assembly President Hugh Williams, Assembly Vice President and Union Quality Coordinator Willa O'Neill, Staff Representative John Gersper, and other assembly leaders and staff were invited to the participate in the special briefing. Williams, however, was out of town and unable to attend the meeting. Union leaders and staff were encouraged by the briefing, noting that the previous administration never gave the union a heads up on business plan at all. OCSEA Staff Representative John Gersper said, "The business plan takes into account that the last administration committed TRAC tier one construction money well into the future without regard to inflation and the flat revenues." The director indicated that the union will be part of the discussions on action plans and able to make recommendations. "While a review of staffing is ongoing, current employee positions are fully funded for the biennium and are not at risk," Gersper added. See Related
