News News impacting public employee union members Correction Officer of Year named:
A Correction Officer from each of Ohio's 30 state-operated prisons, along with their family members, friends, DRC staff, and union leaders were present for the announcement of the recipient of the Ronald C. Marshall Award. Correction Officer Rucker from the Warren Correctional Institution (WCI) was selected by her peers as the winner of the prestigious award. Rucker began her career with DRC in August 2000 and has proven to be an asset both to WCI and the department. She's been active in several areas: Combined Charitable Committee, Health and Safety Committee, Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, Security Threat Group Committee, Special Response Team, and the DRC Honor Guard. Within her community, Rucker is actively involved with the Dayton Urban League, Neighborhood Association, and a church affiliate mentorship program. OCSEA Vice President Chris Mabe addressed a packed house, recognizing all corrections employees for the important work and valued service they provide to the citizens of Ohio. OCSEA / DRC Assembly President Charlie Williamson along with other local leaders and Operations Director Tim Shafer were also on hand to congratulate and support Rucker and the other top 29 officers.
