Board runoff election results announced;
Winners take oath at Aug. 15 - 16 meeting

Aug. 8, 2008 - Three of OCSEA's nine districts held runoff elections last month for seats on the Board of Directors.

The ballots were counted on Aug. 6 by the accounting firm of Mulligan, Topy & Company for OCSEA Districts 2, 4, and 8. The process was supervised by a committee of union leaders and OCSEA's General Counsel Sandra Bell.

• District Council 2 – Carrie V. Johnson (MH)
• District Council 4 – Robert Hausen (DRC)
• District Council 8 – A. J. Frame (DRC)

The winners declared last month include:

• District Council 1 – Shawn Gruber (DRC)
• District Council 3 – Robert Valentine (ODOT)
• District Council 5 – Cindy Bobbitt (ODJFS)
• District Council 6 – Joe Wing (ODOT), Shirley Hubbert (BWC), Kelvin Jones (Ohio EPA), Debra Honore (RSC), John Anthony (Taxation)
• District Council 7 – Quida Higbee (ODJFS)
• District Council 9 – Charlie Williamson (DRC)

The overall guidance for OCSEA comes from its 28-member Board of Directors and three state officers. Board members are elected for three-year terms and any member in good standing can run.

Board members deliberate and vote on union policies, set its budget and oversee nearly every aspect of OCSEA's operations.

These leaders are also responsible for attending chapter meetings and keeping their district members informed of the union's statewide plans.
