SirenFederal funding to states brutally stripped from House jobs bill
Tell Congress they are making a HUGE mistake! 888-340-6517

May 28, 2010 - In what appears to be a complete one-eighty, the U.S. House has removed a federal relief extension that would mean nearly $940 million in additional funding for an already hurting Ohio.

The six-month extension, which will expire in December, was included as part of a larger jobs bill. However, the fiscal relief – known as the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (F-MAP) – was stripped from the final House legislation.

Without these funds YOUR jobs are at risk!!! Without a continuation of this assistance, Ohio will be forced to close budget gaps with brutal cuts to state services….and state workers.

Contact your U.S. representative AND Senator George Voinovich TODAY! Call 888-340-6517 and ask them to keep F-MAP funding extension in all versions of the federal jobs bill. The money is critical to retaining quality public services that you provide to Ohio citizens.

Not sure what to say? You can use this script:
As your constituent, I am calling today to ask that you fight for the return of the F-MAP extension to the federal jobs bill.

I’m calling on you to help make sure Ohioans continue to receive the kind of quality services they have come to expect; services like clean air and water, housing and treatment programs for the disabled, security services for the state’s prisons, job training and employment services, parks services to name a few.

Without a continuation of this assistance, Ohio will be forced to close budget gaps with brutal cuts to state services….and state workers. More than 900,000 jobs could be lost across the country without these funds and that would stall the national and our state recovery.

Thank you for your time and I hope you do what’s best for Ohio.
