News News impacting public employee union members Pres. Parks: Labor made it happen! Aug. 4, 2010 - Dear OCSEA brothers and sisters: I send this message to you today to say YOU DID IT! You helped stop the madness that was taking place on Capitol Hill. Thanks to thousands of phone calls like yours, the U.S. Senate voted 61 to 38 this morning to end the Republican filibuster on the Jobs Bill that contains aid to states. Finally, Congress can move forward with this jobs bill that is so important to America’s unemployed. This is just the push Ohio needs to raise up from an economy that is resulting in a $4-$8 billion state budget deficit. Ohio is indebted to the men and women in the labor movement who made this bill a priority. As a result, Ohio stands to gain nearly a $1 billion that will go directly to vital public services and jobs like yours, once the bill passes the House. Please remember to keep up the work on the House side where we still face a vote. Thank you for all do! You do make a difference! In Solidarity, See Related |
