Your source on union-negotiated health care
benefits
UHC notifies union of two provider's departure
from network
Feb. 27, 2003 -
In what is yet an other example of the how the
U.S. health care system is not working well, we have received notice from
UHC that two of its hospitals will be leaving their network due to failed
re-negotiations of their contract with UHC.
Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, OH –
contract terminates February 27, 2003
Grady Memorial Hospital, Delaware, OH – contract terminates March
7, 2003
In a letter OCSEA received this week, UHC states the hospitals’
demanded an increase of 30% at Grady and 70% at Fairfield Medical in its
rate of reimbursement for services it provides.
UHC states that the hospitals’ decisions to terminate
their contracts with UHC does not impact agreements they have with physicians
and other health care partners in the Delaware and Fairfield county network.
If union members are currently scheduled for maternity
care at either facility, or have concerns about any treatment currently
being provided, the member is advised to contact the CareCoordination
team at the toll-free number listed on the back of their health insurance
I.D. card.
Also, all necessary emergency health care services provided
by each facility will continue to be covered as an “in network”
benefit.
UHC participants should feel free to contact the UHC
website for further information:
