Committee to examine new vendors for best coverage
Aug. 23, 2004 -
The state
employee Joint Health Care Committee (JHCC), in its ongoing efforts to
provide OCSEA members affordable and accessible quality health care, is
in the process of rebidding a number of health care benefits.
Recently, the committee completed the selection of Matria
as the disease management vendor for people enrolled in the Ohio
Med PPO. Disease management programs assist people with chronic conditions
such as asthma, diabetes, and coronary artery disease with managing their
disease and with helping make sure they get the appropriate care.
JHCC is also in the process of developing a
request for proposals for a the pharmacy benefit for people in
the Ohio Med PPO. Even though the state recently switched from Medco to
Express Scripts,
the contract was approved only for one year, which necessitates the rebidding
of this benefit for the July 1, 2005 benefit year.
"The advantages of rebidding are that they keep
our pharmacy benefit manager on 'its toes' with regard to the best price
and quality service," said JHCC Co-Chair Marianne Steger,
Director of Health Care Policy and Human Resources.
RFPs will soon go out for administering the Ohio
Med PPO as well as for the HMOs that will be offered next July 1, 2005.
