Employee’s share of Health Care Premium
to be split over two paychecks
Oct. 24, 2003 -
In the last round of bargaining with the State, OCSEA was successful in
securing agreement that will now split employee’s share of the health
care premium over two paychecks a month instead of one (see Article 20.05).
Beginning with the paycheck issued on Nov. 14, 2003,
the State of Ohio will begin to deduct the employee’s monthly share
of the health care premium twice a month. The first half of the premium
will be deducted from the first paycheck of the month and the second half
will come out of the second paycheck of the month.
In months where there are 3 paychecks, there will be
no health care premium deduction from the third paycheck of that month.
With health care premiums increasing, many members
requested that the premium be taken out twice a month to allow them to
better manage their budgets.
