News Ohio's Chief Information Officer met with committee May 1, 2007 - The new Director of the Office of Information Technology, R. Steven Edmonson, attended the OCSEA IT Committee's April 26 meeting. He shared his new vision regarding IT in state government and details about the move of the Office of Information Technology to the Office of Budget and Management. In addition, committee members had an opportunity to familiarize the director with their goals and the type of matters that are important to IT employees in state government. One point of discussion was the lack of training and past inability of the state to invest in training the public workforce. The union committee expressed the need to include ground-level IT workers in the decision-making process. Edmonson indicated interest in attending the union’s IT committee meetings in the future.
