News Your source on IT employment security and good government Joint IT committee hosted focus group event on classification design Aug. 22, 2008 - The Joint Information Technology Classification Committee hosted a large focus group on Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the OCSEA Union Hall. Extensive notes were taken and a great deal of input was collected and will be considered as the committee wraps up the design. Participants were randomly chosen from IT employees throughout the state to give their input on the joint committee’s classification design proposal. Nearly 100 state employees were in attendance. Approximately three-fourths were bargaining unit employees. Focus group participants are encouraged to complete and return the feedback form, if they have not already done so, by 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 25, to OCSEA's Sandi Friel at sfriel@ocsea.org. Core members of the specialized labor-management committee have been meeting diligently to complete work on the job duties for the draft-classifications to be submitted to Ohio Office of Information Technology as early as next month. Subject Matter Experts—appointed by the joint committee to make recommendations in six major areas of IT—were on hand to discuss their role and to get feedback. Those in attendance were broken down into the six areas of expertise. The focus groups were: Information Technology, Business Process Analysis, Consultant/Architect, Database Administration, Infrastructure and Software Development. See Related |
