News Your source on IT employment security and good government JOINT UPDATE Nov. 12, 2008 - IT The Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Human Resources Division (HRD), Office of Compensation and Recruitment recently presented a proposal to DAS Director Hugh Quill. The intent of Phase I of the overall IT Classification project proposed the creation of six (6) new classification specifications for the state of Ohio Information Technology (IT) workforce. Quill approved the proposal for DAS-HRD, Office of Compensation and Recruitment to move forward and implement the six (6) classifications groupings. Phase I of the project began as collaboration among representatives from DAS-HRD, Office of Compensation and Recruitment, Office of Collective Bargaining (OCB) and Office of Information Technology (OIT) as well as the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA). Consequently, a joint working committee was formed with representatives from DAS (HRD, OCB, and OIT) and OCSEA and an equal representation of management and labor employees from the state IT workforce. At this time, all involved parties have expressed a sincere interest to have the above matters addressed during union contract negotiations. The contract becomes effective in March 2009. In addition, the timeline for the IT exemptportion of the overall IT Classification series is in sync with Phase II and implementation of the joint labor/management project.
