Tentative Agreement, Housekeeping, Ratification instructions online

The 2011-2012 OCSEA Negotiating Team made history when, on the first official day of Negotiations, they inked an agreement, which extended the current collective bargaining agreement for three years – without any of the concessions. In doing this, the team ensured that the rights and benefits OCSEA members currently enjoy were protected.

What we stood to lose

Before the defeat of Senate Bill 5, the state had indicated it was going to seek through state bargaining the same objectives and take-aways that were outlined in the damaging anti-collective bargaining legislation – win or lose. Here are some of those provisions the state would have taken to Fact Finding if an agreement to extend the contract had not been reached:

  • Health care
  • Step increases
  • Longevity
  • Shift assignments
  • Seniority rights
  • Sick leave cash out/Leave accruals
  • Union Benefits Trust
  • Union Education Trust
  • Protections against Furlough Days at employers’ discretion
