Parks tapped as new president of state employees union

Convention Theme Logo: A New Partner; A New Beginning...Election of statewide officers occurred at OCSEA's 27th Biennial Convention on Friday, Aug. 24, 2007.

Delegates voted for Eddie L. Parks to be the union's new president through 2011. Parks previously served as the union's vice president, vice-chair of the Union Education Trust, and a member of the Board of Directors. He has chaired the group’s education, professional and internal dispute committees.

Christopher Mabe, long-time union activist from the Lorain Correctional Institution, was elected vice president.

Kathy Stewart was returned by delegates to her office of secretary- treasurer.

The election committee oversees the election of the officers with the help of an outside election company.

In accordance with the OCSEA Constitution & Bylaws, every four years the delegates to the OCSEA convention elect the union's top officers: President, Vice President and Secretary Treasurer.

The next election will take place August 2011.
