Steward Certification To maintain status of a steward, members must attend basic stewards training and advanced stewards training. Additionally, stewards must attend at least one "continuing" education course annually; and be actively involved in problem solving or grievance handling with management. Stewards are also encouraged to attend and to participate in chapter meetings and chapter steward committee meetings. Stewards may be removed by chapter president, with the option of appeal to chapter executive board within 15 calendar days of notice of removal.
