Selection of Stewards Stewards shall be appointed by the chapter president, with an option for people to petition the chapter executive board, within 15 calendar days, if not appointed. The chapter executive board will review the petition and make the FINAL decision as to whether he/she will be appointed. The notice of appointment will be in writing. The term of a steward is tied to the term of the chapter president that appointed him or her. Stewards will not represent grievant until he/she has completed at least the stewards training from the Education Department. This current policy will be effective in the chapter after the term of the elected or appointed stewards have expired, or after the next election of chapter officers. It is recommended that stewards be specialized when possible. Stewards can be specialized by topic, i.e., overtime, discipline or by work area or by shift.
