Friday evening reception
to open conference with celebration; Theme: "Get to know the public
servant next door"
REGISTRATION This two day event will be hosted April 22-23, 2005, at the Hyatt on Capitol Square. The conference theme is: "Show Me the Money; Costly Choices: Budget, Bargaining and Politics." This Friday-Saturday format provides members more time to learn about union activities in workshops and participate in discussion groups to express their views. The event registration deadline is April 11. Complete the online registration form or call the OCSEA registration hotline at 614-865-4772 or 800-266-5615, ext. 4772. HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS Reserve your hotel room by March 31. Attendees are responsible for their own hotel registrations by calling the Hyatt on Capitol Square at 800-233-1234. Indicate that you will be attending the OCSEA BUP conference to receive the special rate. The Hyatt is located at 75 East State Street in downtown Columbus. special guests Friday evening offers an interactive Union Power reception. The Saturday agenda includes speakers, discussion groups, networking receptions, and dinner with John Edwards, former Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate. Extra tickets are available for the Saturday evening dinner at $30 per guest. Purchase guest tickets by April 11. Other special guests include Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman and Chris Redfern, Ohio House Democratic Leader. OCSEA President Ron Alexander, Vice President Eddie Parks, and Executive Director Andy Douglas will address participants. Union leaders want to help members identify and respond to the links between politics and the state budget as well as bargaining. Legislative budget decisions made by federal and state legislators strike a profound impact on OCSEA members' employment security, state contract negotiations results, and the quality of public service in Ohio.
