AFSCME, AFL-CIO coordinate large scale relief efforts

Sept. 13, 2005 - Nationwide, unions are mobilizing to aid the hundreds of thousands of Gulf Coast residents devastated by Hurricane Katrina. OCSEA is coordinating a collection.

AFSCME RESPONDS The destruction and dislocation of Katrina and its aftermath have engulfed more than 3,000 AFSCME members in Louisiana, including more than 800 who work in the hardest-hit city of New Orleans.

Browse the AFSCME the AFSCME website to learn more about how you can donate to the AFSCME Fallen Heroes Fund, support legislation and federal aid to address this crisis and future ones, or adopt a famlily by finding victims jobs and providing housing.

On the memo line of the check or in a cover letter, specify that your contribution should be used for "Katrina Relief." Make a donation by writing a check to:
