Proposal
to eliminate funding for Developmental Centers anticipated in biennial
budget; Don't wait to speak out
Dec. 16, 2004
- Governor Bob Taft is steadfastly trying to eliminate the
funding for Developmental Centers and
private facilities for the mentally retarded in
the courts now.
It’s anticipated that there will be a similar
proposal in his biennial budget. The proposal would replace
the current Medicaid funding for these facilities with “waiver”
funding that would amount to less service and fewer
choices.
Tell Ohio legislators to oppose this
harmful proposal that would eliminate choice for
and jeopardize the health and safety of 8,000 of
Ohio’s most vulnerable citizens. Plus, it would cost
Ohio taxpayers millions of dollars in lost Medicaid money
to Ohio.
OCSEA leaders urge you to take action now! Take
three simple steps.
- Speak Out: Urge your legislators
to oppose the elimination of funding for Developmental Centers.
Use the OCSEA E-Action Center to write and send a letter now.
