News Survey says: Health care premium split is okay June 4, 2002 - Historically, the health care premium paid by state employees is deducted from the last pay period of the month. The union conducted an online opinion poll last month to find out if members want to change how often or when the deduction occurs. And, 71 percent of respondents indicated they prefer to have their health care premium split over two pay checks, instead of deducted from one paycheck. OCSEA has formally requested of the state that this happen. The state informed OCSEA that this request is a major programming issue and their programming plate is "pretty full" at the present time but that it will fit it in when it can. We will continue to monitor the state's progress
on this and if it is not done by the time we begin formal bargaining,
OCSEA will make it an official bargaining proposal to split the health
care premium. |
