Call U.S. Senators on today's Overtime Pay Vote

Jan. 20, 2004 - U.S. senators will vote this afternoon on a measure that could be their last chance to block President Bush's overtime pay take-away before it is finalized and becomes a pay cut for millions of America's workers.

You can help us win the U.S. Senate vote by contacting your U.S. senators right now. We won in the Senate once before, but now senators are under intense pressure from Bush and congressional leaders. Please call now, while it is still under discussion. The call literally takes less than two minutes.

>> TAKE ACTION - Please call our U.S. Senators now! They are keeping tallies. It just takes a minute. Be heard: Your votes count and your voice matters.

  • Sen. George Voinovich (202) 224-3353
  • Sen. Mike DeWine (202) 224-2315

Tell them, "I urge you to join the filibuster of the omnibus spending bill because it fails to protect overtime pay for millions of people. The U.S. senate must act to block the Bush overtime pay take-away now. This is one of the issues I will use to judge your commitment to working families."

Unless something extraordinary happens, the vote will happen today, Jan. 20.

The Bush overtime pay take-away is an attack on the 40-hour workweek as well as on our paychecks. Regardless of what he says in the State of the Union--the Labor Department advised employers how to get out of paying overtime pay to low-wage workers and plans to take-away the right to overtime pay from millions.

Tonight, President Bush will deliver his State of the Union address while millions of workers wait to see how the Bush overtime pay take-away will hurt them. We all know that overtime pay is what many of us depend on for the everyday things that help us get by.

Please spread the word about the Bush overtime pay take-away to your friends, family and co-workers. The Bush attempt to take hard-earned pay from America's workers-and give employers this unfair break--is a scandal you can help expose. Please take one moment right now to forward this to a friend.
