Center celebrates 75th anniversary, closes doors this week

Feb. 16, 2006 - OCSEA members were among many from the community who attended a very sad event at the Apple Creek Development Center on Valentines Day. Ironically, the institution for disabled this week celebrates its 75th anniversary and closes its doors.

The turnout was tremendous with hundreds of ex-employees, current staff, retirees and parents gathering to say goodbye, according to OCSEA Staff Steve Wiles and Sally Meckling who also attended.

The closing of Apple Creek Development Center was covered in a news story by an Akron Beacon Journal reporter.
