Union schedules layoffs trainings for May

April 30, 2008 (last update on May 13, 2008) - In preparation for layoffs recently announced by a few state agencies, the OCSEA Education Department has scheduled the Layoffs class in several cities across the state for this month.

Chapter leaders who have impacted members employed by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Retardation, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections are encouraged to tell local members about the training opportunities listed below.

This three-hour course outlines the paper layoff process and bumping rights and responsibilities of union leaders during the layoff process.

* May 7, 2008 (Wednesday) - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; OCSEA HQ, Westerville.

May 14, 2008 (Wednesday) - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. ; Holiday Inn in Lima.

May 16, 2008 (Friday) - 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.; Corrections Training Academy *, Orient

May 17, 2008 (Saturday) – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; OCSEA Headquarters,  Westerville

May 18, 2008 (Sunday) – Training for Oakwood Correctional, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.; UAW Hall, Lima

May 19, 2008 (Monday) – 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Ramada Inn, Middletown

May 21, 2008 (Wednesday) - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Holiday Inn, Elyria
 
May 22, 2008 (Thursday) - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Ramada Inn, Cambridge

May 23, 2008 (Friday) - 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.; Best Western, Chillicothe.  Please note: this site is not handicap accessible (stairs)
