OCSEA is excited to announce the roll-out of two new Business Management focus areas with Eastern Gateway Community College. For the semester starting March 19, now the college will offer areas of focus in Labor Studies and Entrepreneurship, both as part of their Business Management Degree program.

Labor Studies

EGCC's Labor Studies focus prepares students to assume leadership roles in the workplace, labor union and communities. Hal Stack of Wayne State University is working with EGCC to lead and guide the Labor Studies focus, with assistance from seasoned leaders from the labor movement. Whether you are already working as a labor organizer or community organizer, a dedicated advocate or an interested observer, this focus will help you gain the necessary skills and understanding of labor in the workplace and meet the challenges of the new millennium.

Classes include:

  • Introduction to Labor / American Labor Movement
  • Collective Bargaining
  • Law of Labor / Industrial Relations

Entrepreneurship

If you have your own business or are thinking of starting one, EGCC's business management degree with entrepreneurship focus can help you with your plans. As an entrepreneur, you can be self-employed or become a job creator for others! Starting and operating a business takes a lot of effort and know-how. No matter the type of business you are interested in starting, this focus will provide the basic skills of how to launch your business.
