Q. What are District Grassroots Committees? A. District Grassroots Committees (DGC’s) are responsible for candidate screenings and endorsement recommendations, voter registration, fundraising for PEOPLE and the OCSEA PAC, as well as mobilizing on legislative and political action issues. A. There are 9 and are established by each OCSEA District Council. [ top ] Q. Who is eligible to participate in a DGC? A. Any OCSEA member in good standing or a retiree—who is also a PEOPLE member—through their district council. Each chapter within the district can appoint a minimum of two representatives (more are eligible based on membership). [ top ] Q. Who do I contact to find out about meetings or get involved? A. Q. How can I be assured that my workplace issues will be addressed during the candidate screening process? If your chapter does not already have some one appointed, insist that your chapter president appoint representatives to your DGC immediately. [ top ] Q. How can Assemblies participate in the DGC’s?
