News Legislature approves MRDD legislation containing facility closure language Jan. 21, 2004 - The Ohio General Assembly yesterday voted in favor of Senate Bill 178, created to improve MRDD client protections and the facility closure process. SB 178 is nearly identical to SB 4—recently vetoed by Gov. Taft—with a few exceptions. It moves to Gov. Taft's desk next. Once signed into law, the bill is effective immediately. Thanks go out to union members who repeatedly contacted Ohio legislators over the last several months. More details will be available soon. |
