Strategic planning work group unveils recommendations
for political mobilization
July 3, 2003- The
OCSEA Board of Directors last month heard a report from a special task
force composed of board members and staff who are working out the details
of a new political mobilization plan for OCSEA.
At the June 26-27, 2003, board meeting, the
group recommended a plan based on five priorities:
- Worksite communications;
- Education on political issues (including train-the-trainer
models);
- Broader usage of District Grassroots Committees (that
would be responsible for such things as voter registration, fund raising,
mobilization, and coalition building);
- Propagating simple political themes and messages;
and
- Expansion of “PEOPLE” – AFSCME’s
political action fundraising group.
