News Ohio's Best Rx: OCSEA petition drive to kick off in support of drug benefit , Contact your legislators now
Meanwhile, OCSEA's Union Power network of activists and District Grassroots Committees are handing out flyers at worksites and asking people to sign petitions. Take Action Now:
The program promises deep discounts on drugs for anyone who currently has no drug benefit or discount including seniors, working families with low incomes and the unemployed. Potentially, Ohio's Best Rx could affect 2.2 million Ohioans. The plan calls for a 25-40 percent discount on prescriptions and develops a formulary that lists drugs with the cheapest prices. OCSEA got on board with the Ohio AFL-CIO and other groups to form the Coalition for Affordable Prescription Drugs. "We felt this program really could impact the families of our members," said OCSEA President Ron Alexander. "Many of our members have parents and senior family members who are forced to choose between paying for food and paying for medicine. This program addresses that head-on." |
