News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation OCSEA members made the difference; Ohioans vote for change Nov. 8, 2006 - OCSEA is proud of all union members who helped to get out the vote yesterday. Congratulations! Your efforts made all the difference at the polls. We are pleased that Ted Strickland, the OCSEA-endorsed gubernatorial candidate, will take office in January. Union leaders are looking forward to working with the governor-elect in moving Ohio forward.
And, your votes made a difference in more races than just the governor’s. The following union-endorsed candidates were elected to statewide offices:
In agreement with Labor, Ohioans also said “yes” to Issue 2 and raising the minimum wage. The results of many races – statewide and nationwide – are a positive step in the right direction in turning around Ohio, but much work is left to be done. “I will enter this office ready to pour my heart and soul into fighting for the dignity of families and all people in Ohio,” Governor-elect Ted Strickland said. “I will dedicate myself to restoring the spirit, the hope and the optimism of our great and beautiful state.” OCSEA needs union members to stay engaged in the political process. Make our voices heard on issues like civil service, collective bargaining, privatization, government budgets, and other critical issues that impact public employees and the services we deliver.
It’s going to take some time, but together we now have the best opportunity to create a better future for all Ohioans. See Related
