News Your source on political action, voter info & legislation Hearings, union testimony continue in House for DRC, MRDD, and RSC April 19, 2007 - Three OCSEA assembly presidents were scheduled to speak today to legislators on behalf of the union regarding the budgets of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections, the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, and the Rehabilitation Services Commission. Tim Shafer, DRC Assembly President, Monty Blanton, MR/MH/OVH Assembly President, and Debra Honore, RSC Assembly President, are no strangers to budget hearings. They've represented union members on countless occasions for more than a decade. In fact, these leaders offered testimony earlier this month in subcommittees and again this week before the full Ohio House Finance Committee. Union members, leaders and staff continue to do much work behind the scenes—assessing impact on agency services, writing letters to legislators, meeting with decision makers, and delivering testimony before legislators at budget hearings. The union's Ohio Department of Natural Resources Assembly and its coalition partners, for example, wrote follow up letters to legislators who heard their union testimony last week in subcommittee. Maybe you're not ready to deliver testimony before a legislative committee, but there's still much that you can do. Contact your local legislators about public services that you care about and deliver. Write a letter, send an email, or make a call. Make your voice heard now! See Related
