The members of OCSEA's BWC Chapter 1810 gave legislators a glimpse at the work they do and the valuable services they provide to the citizens of Ohio. The chapter's Union Power Committee coordinated the “A Closer Look" event, initiated to cast a positive light on the work of the bureau and its public employees. Guest legislators included:
Rep. Jennifer Brady (Dist. 12), who received a one-on-one tour from claims representative Wendy Kelly, said these employees should really be commended. She hopes to work closely with the union to spread the word about the importance of these state-operated services and the good job these union members do. “This event is an opportunity for our legislators to get a positive perspective on how the Bureau works – from our members who do the job,” said OCSEA BWC Assembly President Lawrence McKissic Jr. “We want to show how efficient we are at our jobs and how knowledgeable we are about workers compensation. ” OCSEA represents approximately 36,000 state employees, with approximately 1,700 in BWC.
